We as a company know that we live in a time of constant change which is why we provide our clients with personalized care and attention. One thing that has characterized us over the years is that we are more client driven than project driven. We can help clients for anything from a small review to a major project design.
Babbitt Smith is experienced in sustainable building materials and concepts. We pride ourselves on being innovative and adaptable to the use of new technologies and sustainable materials. Examples of systems and materials which we have worked with are Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC), Flex-Crete (Fiber Reinforced Aerated Concrete), Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF’s), and Structural Insulated Panels (SIP’s)
We also understand that sometimes what works on paper may not always work in the field. For this reason, we work closely with the developers, architects, and contractors to ensure that we are designing the most cost-effective and structurally stable system.

Our History…
- Babbitt Engineering was founded in 2001 under the leadership of Felipe Babbitt.
- 2008 Babbitt Engineering merged with The Nelson Group to form Babbitt Nelson Engineering.
- 2009 engineering services were expanded to included Civil Engineering design.
- 2015 Darren Smith joined as a principal partner.
- 2019 Craig Nelson moved to Utah and opened his consulting firm.
- 2020 Babbitt Nelson Engineering becomes Babbitt Smith Engineering, LLC
Today Babbitt Smith Engineering continues as is deeply rooted and leading design firm in the East Valley.
